Meet Saju 사주

You have a pattern.
Follow the thread.

Saju means “four pillars.” In this Korean tradition, your birth year, month, day and hour form a chart interpreted through five elements: wood, fire, earth, metal and water.

Clew brings those interpretations into the things that feel personal. How you connect. What you need. Why some situations feel so familiar.

A lens for reflection. Your choices are still yours.

A different way to read your birth chart.

Western astrology maps the planets at your birth. Saju translates that moment into four pillars, each made of two characters. These eight characters are interpreted through the traditional cycles of yin and yang and the relationships between Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water.

Both traditions use birth details. What differs is the framework used to interpret them. In Saju, the Day Master—the first character of your day pillar—is a central reference point for reading the relationships within the chart.

750+ years of written tradition.

The Four Pillars tradition has been studied and passed on through written texts. A foundational work has a preface dated 1253–1258. Later collections brought together explanations, interpretations, and examples of charts.

Today, people still turn to Saju with questions about love, work, and the next chapter of their lives. In a 2025 South Korean survey of 1,200 people aged 13–69, 56.4% reported having tried Saju services.

Your reading starts with a calculation.

Clew calculates your pillars from your birth date, time, and city. We account for historical time-zone rules, daylight saving time, and local solar-time adjustments. When a recorded time is ambiguous, we ask you to clarify it.

If you don’t know your birth time, we leave out the hour pillar and label the chart provisional. The calculation details in your result explain the inputs and conventions used.

From your chart to your everyday life.

Clew connects calculated chart features with a structured collection of introductory interpretations. Your Day Master and its relationship with the month stem help select the writing you see.

Each reading offers a theme to explore, a question to sit with, and a small practice to try. You can bring the same chart to different questions about yourself, love, past relationships, focus, money, presence, and work.

Saju is a traditional practice for reflection and entertainment. A precise calculation does not establish the accuracy of a personality interpretation or predict a future outcome.
